Are you Grief Illiterate?

Are you Grief Illiterate?

I was listening to a podcast and this statement stood out, “Our society is Grief Illiterate.  They freeze when confronted with someone who is grieving.  For fear that they’ll do the wrong thing, many do nothing at all.”

Then everyone feels badly.  At least that was me.

I personally desire a better understanding of how to support my friends who are in the midst of loss and I’m on a quest to be Grief Literate.

Grief is experienced in so many ways:   Physically, emotionally, spiritually, financially, and practically (as in all the legal documents and requirements).  These are all aspects and parts of the journey.   So how can we help support our friends and family in times of grief?

I’m creating a space to share what I learn.

Do you desire to learn more too?  I’ll be interviewing many support experts who can help us.

I will share this ‘Grief Illiterate’ podcast in my next newsletter.

Here’s my Free Resource Guide that I’ll be adding to monthly.

ps:  I was studying the difference between sympathy, empathy and compassion.  The highest form is God’s Compassion and that is ALWAYS followed by ACTION.  That’s my goal – to become a compassionate action taker.
