Education Tips: Spirulina the Multi Purpose SUPERFOOD

Spirulina: Superfood for Survival

While you and I are made up of some 63 trillion cells, these organisms (spirulina-algae) have only one.  Yet, they form the main staple in the diet of the largest creatures on earth – the great whales.

If algae can fuel great whales, maybe we can benefit too from its rich treasure chest of nutrients.

Education Tip #1: HISTORY

Ancient Egyptians and the Aztecs of Mexico made spirulina an important part of their diet.  Our connection starts in the 1950’s when Dr. Christopher Hills working with Dr. Hiroshi Nakamura ‘re-discovered’ spirulina and began looking for ways to make it readily available. They believed it held an important role in solving world hunger.  (or simply as part of your hiking back pack or Emergency Preparedness Kit)

Dr. Hills through his research became known as the “Father of Spirulina” and we continue to be the exclusive supplier of his spirulina.

What’s in it:

– 65 to 71 percent complete protein with a perfect balance of essential amino acids (compare to beef with 22 percent complete protein)

– High concentrations of chelated minerals, trace elements and enzymes

– Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs)

– Vitamins – rich in B vitamins particularly B6 and B12, and contains more vitamin E per gram than pure wheat germ

– Carotenoids – Beta Carotene is the best known, but spirulina contains beta and 6 more which are used by the body to produce vitamin A, but only as the body needs it (so no toxicity)

– Chlorophyll for healing, cleansing and detoxifying

– Carbohydrates for Energy – carbs in the form of rhamnose and glycogen which the human cells can easily absorb (speedy energy without burdening the pancreas or increasing the risk of hypoglycemia).

It’s important for consistent quality to choose spirulina that has been cultivated in a controlled environment free from pollutants and toxins.

Our History and Quality Control assures you the benefits of adding this Superfood to your regime (an organic source Multi-Vitamin).  I encourage to also think of having a supply on hand for emergency (Emergency Preparedness Pack) as it certainly has and will sustain life.

10 tablets = 5 grams of Spirulina

Education Tip 2: Spirulina – So Many Benefits

Japanese medical studies document a significant role of Spirulina in promoting healing in: Diabetes, Anemia, Liver Disease, Ulcers, Pancreatitis, Radiation and Chemotherapy, Heavy Metal Poisoning – (more info to follow) including positive results in Weight Loss and Cleansing.

We’re focusing on “Cleansing” with this section.

The chlorophyll along with the balance of other nutrients in spirulina make it excellent for cleansing and detoxifying. “Spirulina fasts” are known to have a very beneficial effect on the body.  Strictly speaking they are not fasts because spirulina really is a food and in sufficient quantities does provide enough nutrients to live on.   Spirulina is excellent because it helps cleanse the intestinal tract as well as relax the muscles of the bowel and stomach.

Spirulina can be used for cleansing as a complement to ColoVada Plus, 14 day body detox program. (possibly 2 tablets am and 2 pm with the CV packets).  Here is an interview regarding Colo-Vada Plus with the creator of the program Dr. Albert Zehr.

If using just Spirulina on its own, Dr. Christopher Hills has suggested the following program:

Day 1: Lots of fresh juices. No solids.  Take two tablets (1000 mgs) in place of EACH meal.

Day 2: Add a little solid fruit along with the fresh juices to provide bulk. Continue taking two tablets Spirulina with each or in place of each meal.

Day 3: Fresh juice and spirulina only.

Day 4: Fruit juices.  Increase spirulina to four tablets instead of each meal. Drink lots of liquids.

Day 5: Increase spirulina intake to 8 tablets instead or in place of each meal. Drink fruit juices and plenty of liquids.

Day 6: Juice, liquids and spirulina as on Day 5.

Day 7: Introduce solid fruits. Decrease spirulina intake to 4 tablets per meal.

Day 8: Gradually increase food intake. Reduce spirulina to 2 tablets per meal.

Many cultures take time for a ‘fast’ for clarity, for prayer, for direction.

Maybe this would be another option to do with that in mind.  We’re doing this as a group soon.  Let us know if you’d like to join us.

Education Tip 3:  A Valid Comparison

Choose Health …..convenient organic nutrition

Education Tip 4: The Multi-Purpose Super Food

In Edu Tip #2 lots of benefits were listed.  How does one compound do so much for so many different maladies?  In the order of the list of benefits in Edu. #2:

  • Because it is so easily assimilable, spirulina helps to maintain blood glucose levels, helping stop food cravings, increasing a sense of vigor and wellbeing.
  • Spirulina has a rich content of blood building ingredients (chlorophyll, folic acid, vitamins B12 and the amino acids) so it’s able over time to increase the red blood cell volume and oxygen-carrying capacity of the cells.
  • increases the liver’s recuperative powers
  • chlorophyll helps coat the irritated stomach and reduce tissue inflammation
  • balances the secretion of enzymes and stabilizes blood sugar
  • lessens nausea and showed decreased loss of white blood cells
  • excretion of cadmium as well as lead and mercury were stimulated

SURPRISE – More nutrients keep being found in Spirulina.  How can that happen? Compounds like Lycopene (Lycopene is a carotenoid − a natural pigment that gives some vegetables and fruits their red color. It is an antioxidant – a substance that protects against cell damage) were not even known about, so how could they test for them.  But since many new compounds and their benefits have come to light, tests were made on Spirulina and OF COURSE, those nutrients were already present in the Spirulina.  All that to say, it’s well worth adding to your supplement regime.  If it’s nutrient dense enough for the world’s largest species, the great whale, it should be for us too.  Despite being ahead in so many areas, leading nutritionists share the HUMAN RACE is working its way to extinction with its own malnutrition.  This is often supported with the huge increase of infertile couples.  Spirulina is such a benefit to nourishment; we can all help by providing it on a regular basis for our own family to sustain their health and longevity.

Postnote:

And YES, Dr. Christopher Hill’s vision of using Spirulina to treat world hunger is still happening 50-60 and 70 years later.

In war torn Africa, it’s being put into place with these Nuns for instance.

Choose Health and Good Nutrition.
